These dainty cookies are subtle and sweet but can still satisfy your sweet tooth be served at tea time.

Ingredients
- 2[1/2] cups all-purpose flour
- [1/2] tsp. salt
- 1 TB. baking powder
- 2 tsp. active dry yeast
- 3 TB. sugar
- 1 tsp. ground cinnamon
- [1/2] cup vegetable oil
- [1/2] cup warm water
- 10 dates (pitted)
- 3 TB. butter, at room temperature
- 1 large beaten egg
- [1/4] cup sesame seeds
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine all-purpose flour, salt, baking powder, yeast, sugar, [1/2] teaspoon cinnamon, vegetable oil, and warm water, and knead for 3 minutes. Cover and set aside for 1 hour.
- Preheat the oven to 350ºF.
- In a food processor fitted with a chopping blade, blend dates, butter, and remaining [1/2] teaspoon cinnamon for 30 seconds.
- Dust your work surface with flour, place dough on the surface, and knead 10 times. Roll dough into a 16-inch oval.
- Spoon date mixture along length of oval, and roll dough into a 16-inch-long log. Brush log with beaten egg, and sprinkle with sesame seeds. Cut log into 18 equal-size pieces and place 1 inch apart on a baking sheet. Bake for 15 minutes.
- Let cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 to 10 minutes, and serve.
