These dainty cookies are subtle and sweet but can still satisfy your sweet tooth be served at tea time.

Ingredients
2[1/2] cupsall-purpose flour
[1/2] tsp.salt
1 TB.baking powder
2 tsp. active dry yeast
3 TB.sugar
1 tsp. ground cinnamon
[1/2] cupvegetable oil
[1/2] cupwarm water
10dates (pitted)
3 TB.butter, at room temperature
1 large beaten egg
[1/4] cupsesame seeds
Instructions
In a large bowl, combine all-purpose flour, salt, baking powder, yeast, sugar, [1/2] teaspoon cinnamon, vegetable oil, and warm water, and knead for 3 minutes. Cover and set aside for 1 hour.
Preheat the oven to 350ºF.
In a food processor fitted with a chopping blade, blend dates, butter, and remaining [1/2] teaspoon cinnamon for 30 seconds.
Dust your work surface with flour, place dough on the surface, and knead 10 times. Roll dough into a 16-inch oval.
Spoon date mixture along length of oval, and roll dough into a 16-inch-long log. Brush log with beaten egg, and sprinkle with sesame seeds. Cut log into 18 equal-size pieces and place 1 inch apart on a baking sheet. Bake for 15 minutes.
Let cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 to 10 minutes, and serve.

Tasty Tip These dates are great for an afternoon tea. They're not too sweet and go great with the flavor of an Earl Grey tea.
