This trifle is made of slightly sweetened vanilla wafers, a yellow custard, and a bit of chocolate.

Serves: 1 (9*9-inch) trifle
Ingredients
1 cupsugar
[1/2] cupall-purpose flour
[1/4] tsp.salt
3 cupswhole milk
4 large egg yolks, beaten
3 TB.butter
1 TB.vanilla extract
2 cupsmilk chocolate chips
[1/2] cupheavy cream
40vanilla wafers
Instructions
In a large pot over medium heat, whisk together sugar, all-purpose flour, salt, and whole milk. Simmer for 4 minutes, continually stirring.
In a small bowl, whisk together egg yolks. While whisking, slowly pour 1 cup of hot milk mixture into eggs. Pour egg mixture back into the pot, continue to stir, and simmer for 2 minutes.
Stir in butter and vanilla extract until combined, and remove from heat.
Place milk chocolate chips and heavy cream in a bowl. Using a double boiler or a microwave, melt chocolate.
To form trifle, place a layer of vanilla wafers on the bottom of a 9x9-inch baking dish. Pour [1/2] of custard mixture over cookies, drizzle [1/2] of chocolate mixture over custard, and repeat, ending with a layer of chocolate on top.
Refrigerate for 2 hours before serving.

Tasty Tip If you don't like or can't find vanilla wafers, you can use any plain cookie or cracker you like.
